AM Software Development

We provide short-term consultancy and research projects that cover bespoke integration or development of specific features or algorithms targetting end-user software or part of an existing AM production pipeline. In particular, our focus is on L-PBF and jetting technologies.


Additionally, we provide specialist long-term maintenance support to customers adapting, integrating or the development of new features in PySLM libraries. This functionality can be integrated as part of existing interfaces with their software tools / engineering workflows.

AM Algorithm Development

Bespoke algorithm development for AM includes path-planning, slicing, tool-path generation, build-volume and part orientation optimisation, and support structure generation.

Development of new features or automation algorithms including L-PBF data-management, geometry processing, and integration with existing external software libraries

Computational Geometry and Materials

Exploiting AM is underpinned by taking advantage of computational design techniques to unlock the design freedoms available in the selected process, but crucially enhance their cost-effectiveness either functionally or financially. Our focus is on delivering software tools and consultancy services that are tailored to push the boundaries and capabilities of the process and the materials used. This includes designs driven algorithmically that are automated via structure programming.


Our ability to control the AM process directly opens new opportunities to expand the design space and materials that are fabricable in the process, i.e. tailored micro-structures in L-PBF or architectured meta-materials or lattices, by algorithmically generated toolpaths that are deployable by using PySLM. Furthermore, the ability to manipulate existing tool paths and data structures offers the ability to monitor and capture builds.

We have experience with spatial data structures, meshing, and computational geometry algorithms suitable for DfAM, including design and generation of conformal architectured structures and topology optimisation
